I was a founding staff member of Harare News, Harare’s monthly community newspaper, and was the sole designer for the first 39 issues. I designed and typeset all the pages, infographics (see the complete collection here), branding and marketing material, and was the chief photographer. I also wrote several articles, including Tafi Machingaidze taking BMX higher, Suburban Safari: Harare’s Creatures of the night, Zim bikers take on Africa’s best, Rare treat for BMX fans as AFCON comes to town, and Legendary BMX track goes up for sale. I ran a staff training workshop on photography, and supervised graphic design interns.
At its highest the paper had a print run of 30,000, and it and its staff have won several awards.
